A Few Herding Dogs

These Briards were residents of High
Point, NC
Pembroke Welsh Corgis have become a favorite of mine....they have one of the most expressive faces and are wonderful companions.

Pepsi, a Champion German Shepard lives in Pennsylvania.

This is, or course, Sparkey "The Wonder Dog"

These are a few examples of herding dogs I drawn over the years...each one is unique and personal.  I'll be posting more examples of my work over time.

Back From The Edge...

This is Lucy.  She is about 13 years old and had developed arthritis and was very sore....almost unable to get up much less take a walk.  Our Vet recommended Rimadyl to help with her condition and advised us of the potential side effects.  Initially it worked very well for her.  After being on it for several months she developed severe liver problems and became very lethargic....lost her wonderful attitude and appetite. I elected to put her on a cleansing diet and stop the Rimadyl....I chose to put her on Advil...one in the morning and one at night with her "homemade special for Lucy" meal.  She has her appetite back and there is spring in her step once more....she is truly back from the edge.

A Great Fall Soup!

As fall is rapidly closing in it is time to consider those foods that will not only warm the heart but the body as well.  I picked up a fairly large Butternut Squash from a neighbor and thought a soup was in order.  Starting with some chicken stock, about two quarts, I had from boiling chicken breasts earlier in the week I diced several pieces of celery, peeled, de-seeded an chopped the squash into bite sized pieces and added it to the stock......add about a tablespoon of ground Cinnamon, some granulated garlic and a rounded teaspoon of Nutmeg bring the mix to a slow boil.  After the squash gets to the point where it can be easily poked with a fork cut up two precooked chicken breasts into small pieces.  Let it simmer for a few more minutes, the more it simmers the thicker it will get, and you now have a pot of great tasting soul food!
